The American investment company Blackstone is allowed to take over the Dutch holiday park organization RCN. That was decided by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) on Thursday.
The organization has a total of eighteen holiday parks: nine in the Netherlands, one in Germany and eight in France. They all have a Dutch owner.
At the end of June, RCN announced that it would sell the recreational areas to Blackstone. The American investor manages more than 1.1 trillion dollars in investments worldwide. The ACM received quite a few concerned reports in advance about the acquisition.
Yet the ACM sees no reason to intervene. Blackstone does not currently operate any holiday parks in the Netherlands itself. According to the ACM, this does not change the competition between providers of holidays in their own country.
“We have looked at whether there is still enough choice for holidaymakers after the acquisition. And that is the case,” the authority writes in a press release.
