Bertrie Wierenga stops after six years with good times, bad times

Bertrie Wierenga is leaving her role in Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden, she announced Friday on RTL Boulevard. The actress wants to spend more time with her daughter.

Wierenga had daughter Lena with actor Dorian Bindels in November. She was supposed to return to the series after Lena’s birth, but soon discovered she wasn’t ready for full-time work.

Playing part-time in Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden was not an option. “It’s a bit of a bummer, but I’m also happy that I can spend a lot of time with my daughter,” says the actress, who describes the series as “a kind of home.”

The 35-year-old Wierenga has played the character Shanti Vening in Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden for six years. In 2023, she won the Televizier-Ring Actor for her role in the soap opera. Her character will remain in the series, but will be played by another actress. Wierenga says she is leaving the role with “peace of mind.”

Wierenga emphasizes that she will not disappear completely from the public eye. She says she is working on “a few fun things” and will definitely continue to act and sing.
