Beerensteyn due to unclear injury also not available against Scotland

Lineth Beerensteyn will not be able to play for the Dutch national team in the last Nations League group match against Scotland next Tuesday. It is unclear what injury the striker has, but according to national coach Andries Jonker, there is no panic regarding the European Championship.

Beerensteyn last played a month ago and missed the last two matches of her club Wolfsburg. Earlier this week, it was already clear that the 28-year-old striker would miss Friday’s Nations League match against Germany.

National coach Andries Jonker did not want to reveal what kind of injury it was during an online press conference on Thursday. It became clear that Beerensteyn did not travel to Bremen, where the match against Germany is being played.

“In the eyes of the medical staff, she needed a day of rest. She was also happy with that. So today she is enjoying a day with her family. Tomorrow she will train alone in Zeist with the medical staff there, and then she will join us again on Saturday.”

Jonker is not worried about Beerensteyn regarding the European Championship next summer in Switzerland. “No, there is great confidence that she will be fit in time for June 19, when the preparation starts. She is on schedule, only Tuesday is absolutely not going to happen.”

The match against Germany starts on Friday at 8:30 PM and will be played at the Weserstadion in Bremen. The winner of the match will be the group winner and can prepare for the Nations League Finals.
