Antman gives day after departure at Go Ahead Assist for new club Rangers in CL

Oliver Antman distinguished himself at his new club Rangers FC a day after leaving Go Ahead Eagles. The Finn provided an assist in the 3-0 victory against Viktoria Plzen in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

Shortly after halftime, Antman delivered an accurate cross to Djeidi Gassama, who headed in the 3-0 goal from close range. The attacker was immediately in the starting lineup a day after completing his transfer. He was substituted just five minutes before the end of the match at Ibrox Stadium.

Antman immediately proved his value to Rangers. Last season, the right winger already developed into the assist king in the historic season of cup winner Go Ahead Eagles. Partly as a result, the club received a record amount of up to 6 million euros from Rangers FC.

Antman was not the only former player from the Eredivisie who distinguished himself at Rangers. Cyriel Dessers, former player of Feyenoord, FC Utrecht and Heracles Almelo, converted a penalty (2-0) just before halftime and provided the assist for Gassama’s early opening goal.

Due to the convincing victory, Rangers FC are virtually in the play-offs of the Champions League, which is the last hurdle for the main tournament. The Scottish top club last reached the main tournament in 2023.

Rangers are already assured of participation in the main tournament of the Europa League this season. Antman’s former club Go Ahead Eagles will play in it, because the club from Deventer won the cup. Trainer Melvin Boel’s team does not have to play qualifying rounds.
