An American woman was caught by security at an airport in Miami hiding two turtles in her bra. One of the turtles did not survive.
One of the turtles was wrapped in gauze, the other in plastic. That can be seen in the photo from the American Transportation Security Administration (TSA) above this article.
The animal that did survive the action has been transferred to a shelter, the TSA writes on Facebook. It is not known what kind of turtles they are.
“Stop hiding animals in crazy places on your body to get them on the plane,” the TSA writes. Americans traveling within the US are allowed to bring pets such as turtles on board. “We emphasize that it is about bringing them, not hiding them under your clothes.”
However, according to CBS News, it happens more often that people try to smuggle animals onto the plane in crazy ways. In March, a man was caught hiding a protected turtle in his pants.
In 2024, a man was stopped because he was trying to take a bag of snakes with him. A year earlier, a bag with eggs of Amazon parrots and live birds was seized when chirping came out of it.
