Louis Tomlinson speaks in an interview with Rolling Stone about the passing of his former One Direction colleague Liam Payne. The singer calls the loss “impossibly difficult” and says he has “never lost a friend before.”
Payne passed away in October last year at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. “Naively enough, I thought that because I’m reasonably well-versed with grief at this point for my age, it would soften the blow. That was super naive,” Tomlinson says in the interview.
According to the 32-year-old singer, the recent fifteen-year anniversary of One Direction felt “awkward.” “Because the feeling to celebrate is just as important, if not more important than ever, in memory of Liam,” the singer said.
Last week, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Tomlinson is working with former bandmate Zayn Malik on a documentary for Netflix. In it, the two would go on a road trip through the United States and reflect on their lives, careers, and the loss of Payne.
