The American jazz singer Gregory Porter and the Dutch violinist Janine Jansen were awarded an oeuvre prize on Monday evening during the presentation of the Edisons Jazz and classically. The prizes were awarded in the AFAS Theater in Leusden.
Porter had flown to the Netherlands especially to receive the Edison personally. The singer also performed during the gala, which was presented by Sofie van den Enk.
Di-Rect singer Marcel Veenendaal, together with trumpet player Jan van Duikeren, received the Edison Audience Award in the Jazz category. Veenendaal previously won an Edison Pop four times with Di-Rect. The audience prize in the classic category went to recorderist Lucie Horsch.
A total of fourteen prizes were awarded.
The Edison is the oldest and most important music prize in the Netherlands and has been in existence for 65 years this year.
