British couple of 80 and 76 years after months released by Taliban

A British Couple was released by the Taliban on Friday after months. Eighty-year-old Peter Reynolds and His 76-Year-old Wife Barbie Were Captured in February. They had Been Running Training Programs in Afghanistan for Eighteen Years.

The release is the result of mediation by Qatar, which spoke with the very conservative Islamic Group for Months and Kept in contact with the British Government and the Couple’s Family. After the release, The Couple Flew to the Qatari Capital Doha.

Accordance to Richard Lindsay, The British Special Envoy to Afghanistan, The Couple is Grateful for Qatar’s Help. They are said to be “happy.”

The Reynolds Couple was captured on February 1 of this year along with American Faye Hall and Their Translator. It is unclear why. Hall was released after two months.

The British Couple’s Family was Concerned about Their Health and Their Ability to Endure Imprisonment. Hall told the bbc last week that they were “literally dying” in prison and that “Their time was running out.”

Accordance to Qatari Authorities, Conditions in the Prison recently improved Slightly and the British Couple Received Medical Assistance from the Qatari Embassy.

Couple Stayed in Afghanistan Despite Risks

The Couple had Been Running A Teaching Training Program in Afghanistan for Eighteen Years. When the taliban seized power in 2021, the couple decided to stay despite the risks.
