“There is so much to be grateful for and yet we are definitely saying goodbye today. Not from the sport, but from constant striving for more, better and pushing boundaries. Limits that we have passed through without having realized and that were increasingly difficult to recover,” the sisters write.
“That is why we choose to stop at our peak, without knowing what our highlight is. But one thing is certain: Paris has made our top sport career around.”
The sisters De Brouwer gave the Netherlands an Olympic medal in Paris in Paris in the synchronized swimming. The twins also impressed last year with gold on the European Championship and silver at the World Cup.
