NSC member Van Vroonhoven stops after members put her lower list

NSC party leader Nicolien van Vroonhoven is not available for the upcoming elections after members have put her lower on the electoral list. Van Vroonhoven was first in place two, but was voted for four place by the NSC members.

This is evident from the final electoral list that was published on Monday. NSC says that Van Vroonhoven sees that as a “clear signal from the members and has decided not to stand for election.”

Van Vroonhoven, now party chairman of NSC, had been openly doubted for some time whether she wanted to pass the party. She already withdrew as a candidate leader. If she wanted to pull the cart during the campaign, she wanted to do that for 100 percent. And she couldn’t give that then. Eddy van Hijum then became leader.

The politician then announced that he would still want to continue as a Member of Parliament. She ended up in second place on the NSC draft list of candidates. But the members of the party have now put a line through it.

‘Hoped to find the way up’

“Last year was more than tough,” says Van Vroonhoven in a statement. “I have filled several roles, some of them unexpectedly. It was a year of fighting, loss and disappointments. And I understand that the members believe that I am jointly responsible for that, although I hoped to find the way up again with the rest of the team.”

Van Vroonhoven just remains a member of parliament until the elections. Whether she then finally leaves national politics is not yet known.

Now that Van Vroonhoven does not stand for election, the party is once again losing an important figurehead. In April, founder Pieter Omtzigt already announced that he would leave national politics.

“We were also together at the cradle of New Social Contract and worked intensively for two years,” says Hijum leader over Van Vroonhoven. “Under difficult circumstances, she has led the group and earns all appreciation for that.” He says “likes to put her shoulders with her” during the upcoming elections.

Due to the departure of Van Vroonhoven, former Minister of the Interior Judith Uitermark rises to place two, followed by MP Merlien Welzijn.

NSC is currently not doing well in the polls. The party, currently good for 19 seats in the room, gauges zero to two seats.

Recently, several former NSC people have decided to say hello to the party.

“The Past Year Has Been More Than Tough,” Van Vroonhoven Said in A Statement. “I have fulfilled varous Roles, some of them unexpected. It was a year of Fighting, Loss and Disappointments. And I Understand That the Members are of the Opinion That I am Partly Responsible for this, althehough I Hoped the Wayed Team.”

Van Vroonhoven Will Remain a Member of Parliament Until the Elections. Whether She Will definitely Leave National Politics After That is not Yet Known.
