In a shooting in the Australian town of Porepunkah, about 300 kilometers northeast of Melbourne, two agents were shot. Investigators were ambushed when they wanted to search a home. There is a manhunt for the suspect.
The suspect is a man in fifty. Chief Commissioner of the State Police Mike Bush reports that the police went to the home of the suspected shooter with ten agents and a house search warrant. According to ABC News, the police action was part of a moral investigation.
The two agents who died were 59 and 35 years old. A third agent was hit in his lower body, but is out of danger. The seven other agents are physically in order, “but of course highly traumatized,” says Bush.
The chief commissioner did not want to say much about the nature of the investigation. “The fact that ten agents were present, says something about the seriousness of the situation,” he says.
