A man fell from the upper tier of Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday evening during an Oasis concert. The man in his forties did not survive the fall and died instantly.
How the incident could have happened is not yet clear.
In a statement, Oasis said they were “shocked and saddened” by the fatal accident. “Oasis would like to express its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”
The performance at Wembley was part of the Oasis reunion tour, which kicked off in Cardiff in early July. Oasis will give another concert in the stadium on Sunday evening. That will continue as planned.
In a statement, Wembley Stadium said emergency services had tried unsuccessfully to help the man. “Despite their efforts, the fan has unfortunately passed away. Our thoughts are with his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers,” the statement said.
