A passenger train derailed in southern Germany on Sunday evening. According to German police, there were three fatalities and several injuries. Emergency services are conducting a rescue operation, but it is difficult to reach the scene of the accident.
The accident occurred around 6:10 PM in a forest in the Biberach district, located in the state of Baden-Württemberg. About a hundred people were on the train during the accident, according to a statement from the Stuttgart police. The train was en route from Sigmaringen to Ulm, both in Baden-Württemberg.
Three people were killed in the accident, police report. “Several people” were also seriously injured. The number of people and the severity of their injuries are not clear.
