Robin Pröpper returns to FC Twente after a year ago: 'Choice was not difficult'

Robin Pröpper has returned to FC Twente after just one year. The defender arrives from Rangers FC and has signed a four-year contract at De Grolsch Veste.

Pröpper made the move from FC Twente to Rangers FC last year. The 31-year-old defender played 43 matches for the Scottish top club. Rangers recently started working with a new owner and coach, which prompted Pröpper to look elsewhere.

“With the arrival of a new management and a new owner, the chance of playing time in the new season seems less great,” Pröpper said Saturday on the FC Twente website. “If your old club – where you had a great time – then makes contact, the choice is not difficult.”

Technical director Jan Streuer is happy with Pröpper’s return. “We are convinced that Robin will strengthen the team with his qualities. He is stable in everything he does. Robin is an excellent central defender and an absolute leader on the field. We will enjoy him for years to come.”

Pröpper previously played professional football for De Graafschap and Heracles Almelo. The defender played 115 matches for FC Twente in three years from mid-2021. In those matches, the former captain scored eleven goals.

FC Twente will be practicing against FC Porto, RKC Waalwijk, and Udinese in the coming period. Trainer Joseph Oosting’s team starts the Eredivisie season on August 10 with an away match against PEC Zwolle.
