American band Blondie is coming with a new album in the last quarter of this year

The new album by Blondie will be released in the last quarter of this year. Guitarist Chris Stein announced this in a message on social media. The album is the first that the American band has released since the death of drummer Clem Burke earlier this year.

Stein posted a photo on X of Blondie singer Debbie Harry, who is in a music studio with producer John Congleton. In response to a question under the post about whether Burke will be heard on the record, Stein replied that the drummer “played the entire album” before his death in April.

The successor to the album Pollinator from 2017 had already been announced, but had no release date yet. Stein also says he doesn’t yet know if the band will tour with the album. Frontwoman Harry previously said that after Burke’s death, she no longer saw herself on stage as Blondie.

The band, founded in New York in 1974, broke through in 1978 with the song Denis. This was followed by numerous hits, such as Heart of Glass, Call Me and The Tide Is High.
