The members of the American rock band Jane’s Addiction have sued each other over a fight during a concert in 2024. Three band members are demanding 10 million dollars (8.6 million euros) from singer Perry Farrell, who in turn has filed a complaint against his former colleagues.
In September 2024, a performance by Jane’s Addiction in the American city of Boston got out of hand when Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro came to blows. Farrell attacked Navarro several times. Security eventually had to pull the singer away from the guitarist.
Shortly after the incident, the rest of the band’s tour was halted. According to the other three band members, this cancellation cost the group millions of dollars. They believe that Farrell should be held financially responsible. The band has not performed since the incident.
Farrell later stated that he was frustrated because the other band members played their instruments so loudly during the concert that he could no longer hear himself singing, unless he set his in-ear monitors to what he considered an unsafe volume. He also claimed that Navarro had “attacked” him and his wife backstage just before the performance.
Farrell also stated that he had been the target of bullying and intimidation by his fellow band members for years. He also allegedly had no say in the decision to cancel the tour or to end the collaboration within the band.
Jane’s Addiction was founded in 1985 by Farrell, Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins. The band has had several line-ups over the years, but since 2008 the rock group has been performing again with the original quartet.
