The network of the notorious hacker group NoName05716 has been taken offline by an international action of police and justice. In recent years, the group has carried out cyberattacks on allies of Ukraine, including the Netherlands.

Europol, Eurojust, and the police announced on Wednesday that they have disrupted the group’s infrastructure. Dutch authorities were also involved in the international action.

The hacker group’s network consisted of more than a hundred servers that have now been taken offline. Two people have been arrested, in France and Spain. In addition, seven arrest warrants have been issued against Russian suspects. The authorities have sent messages to more than a thousand people involved, informing them that they have them in their sights.

The attacks by NoName05716 were mainly aimed at Ukraine. But recently, the group has increasingly targeted allies of the country. The Netherlands was also attacked during the NATO summit last June, making certain government services less accessible.

When Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky came to the Netherlands in 2023, NoName05716 allegedly disabled websites of courts and the Senate. In addition, several ports were attacked with cyberattacks.
