Emma Watson has been banned from driving for six months, reports The Independent. The 35-year-old actress was given the driving ban by the court for committing a speeding offense.
Watson was driving over 61 kilometers per hour in a place where 48 kilometers per hour is allowed last year. Due to that speeding offense, she already had nine penalty points on her driver’s license. In the United Kingdom, you get a driving ban if you get twelve or more penalty points on your driver’s license within three years.
The actress must also pay a fine of over 1,000 pounds (approximately 1,200 euros). She was not present at the hearing herself.
Watson, who became known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, has temporarily stopped acting to study. She is currently working on her master’s degree in literature at the University of Oxford.
