Feyenoord has signed a new attacker on Friday. The club welcomes Gaoussou Diarra, who only played at a professional level for the first time last season.
The 22-year-old Diarra comes from the Turkish Istanbulspor, which reportedly receives a transfer fee of around 3.5 million euros. Just over a year ago, the Malian was not even a professional player.
Diarra had gone to Turkey for his studies and stood out at his local amateur club with his goals. Via the third level of Turkey, he ended up at Istanbulspor, where he also scored consistently. He scored fifteen goals in his debut year at the second level in Turkey.
Feyenoord director Dennis te Kloese reportedly discovered Diarra after a tip from his agent. An agreement was reached with Istanbulspor some time ago, and now the winger himself has signed a contract until mid-2029.
“It is fantastic that I get to play for a big European club like Feyenoord,” says Diarra on the club’s website. “I have never even played in such a big stadium as De Kuip, so my family and I are very proud.”
Diarra is Feyenoord’s third reinforcement this summer. Earlier, the club brought in Luciano Valente (FC Groningen) and Sem Steijn (FC Twente).
