Estavana Polman and Rafael van der Vaart have no concrete plans to get married. Polman does not rule out that it will ever happen, but says that they are currently busy with other things in their lives.

“When it all feels right and we have a house in the Netherlands… We’re in no rush,” says Polman, who lives in Romania because of her handball career, to Beau Monde. “We’ve been together for nine years and are very happy, but we are now mainly busy with other things.”

If Van der Vaart proposes, he might go all out. According to Polman, the former footballer is a bigger romantic than she is. “He sometimes surprises me with nice things, like evenings out, a bunch of flowers. And I think it’s very romantic when he fills the bath. Then he says: ‘Go take a nice bath, honey. I’ll prepare some food.'”

Polman and Van der Vaart have an eight-year-old daughter. According to Polman, they are normal people with a relationship with ups and downs. “What I think is important is that you have to give each other the freedom to do what you like and enjoy. Respect each other and support each other where possible.”

She also gives Van der Vaart the freedom to regularly go to the Netherlands for his work and his son Damián, whom he has with Sylvie Meis. “I think that’s healthy. I assume we will stay together for the rest of our lives, so I can stare at his head for a very long time.”
