A 56-year-old Dutch woman died last month due to an explosion in a bar in Murcia, Spain. The woman was walking past the bar at the time of the explosion.
The explosion took place on June 19 in the bar Lo Pagán. “We can confirm that a 56-year-old Dutch woman has died. We offer all necessary assistance to the family,” says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to NU.nl.
The woman was on her way to a market at the time of the explosion. She suffered serious head injuries and died a week later in the hospital, according to Spanish media Murcia Today and El Español.
The bar owner, a 38-year-old Moroccan woman, also died. At least sixteen others were treated on the spot for their injuries, but did not need to go to the hospital.
Initial investigations suggest a gas leak caused the explosion. The investigation is still ongoing.
