BBC is disappointed that she did not pull the plug from Livestream from show Bob Vylan

The BBC regrets that the livestream of Bob Vylan’s Glastonbury performance on Saturday was not interrupted. During the performance, the British punk duo shouted, among other things: “Death to the Israeli army.”

“The team was dealing with a live situation, but in hindsight, we should have stopped the stream during the performance,” the BBC said in a statement on Monday. “We regret that this did not happen.”

The broadcaster will review its guidelines for live events so that its teams know clearly in the future what content is acceptable to broadcast.

“The BBC respects freedom of expression, but strongly opposes incitement to violence,” the broadcaster continued. “The antisemitic sentiments expressed by Bob Vylan were completely unacceptable and do not belong on the air. We welcome Glastonbury’s condemnation of the performance.”

Earlier on Saturday, it was decided not to broadcast the performance of the Irish rap group Kneecap. The group has been in the news in recent months because of its pro-Palestinian and anti-Israeli positions.
