From Monday, the National Heat Plan will be in effect throughout the country. It will start at 10:00 AM, according to the RIVM. In the coming days, the temperature in a large part of the country will be well above 30 degrees Celsius.
The National Heat Plan is activated when it is persistently hot. This also takes into account the temperature at night and the humidity.
The RIVM mainly wants to warn informal caregivers and professionals in healthcare that it is getting very hot. Vulnerable groups such as the elderly, young children, the homeless and people with poor health may suffer from this. The RIVM calls on people to pay extra attention to vulnerable people in their environment.
Monday will be tropically hot, reports Weeronline. In the center and south of the country it will be 30 to 32 degrees Celsius. Temperatures are slightly lower on the coast, at 26 to 30 degrees Celsius.
The temperature will rise further on Tuesday. The maximum temperature will be between 30 and 36 degrees Celsius. There is also hardly any wind.
It can also be so warm on Wednesday, but that depends on when it will rain. From the afternoon, cumulus clouds will appear and heavy showers will develop. If those showers only fall at the end of the day, the temperature can rise again to 30 to 35 degrees Celsius inland.
Regional Heatwave
That means that there will be a regional heatwave: that requires three days in a row of more than 30 degrees Celsius. Whether it will also be an official heatwave is not yet clear. That depends on the measured temperature in De Bilt.
The heat plan has been in effect in Noord-Brabant and Limburg since Sunday. Temperatures there are already rising to more than 30 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
After Wednesday, the tropical heat will be over, Weeronline expects. The temperature will then drop to 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, because the north wind carries less warm air. There may also be a shower at times. It will also be cooler at night, with minimum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees Celsius.
