Salvador Plasencia, a California doctor charged with involvement in the fatal overdose of Friends actor Matthew Perry, has pleaded guilty to four counts of illegal distribution of ketamine. This is according to court documents filed on Monday.

A second doctor in the case, Mark Chavez, already confessed in October last year to providing drugs to Perry. According to prosecutors, Plasencia bought ketamine from Chavez and sold it to Perry for high prices.

U.S. authorities report that Plasencia could face a maximum of forty years in prison due to his confession.

Fatal overdose

Matthew Perry was found dead in the jacuzzi of his Los Angeles home in October 2023 at the age of 54. He died of a ketamine overdose.

The drug had previously been prescribed to him as part of a treatment for depression and anxiety. The last legal administration took place about a week and a half before his death. According to investigators, the concentration of ketamine in his body was too high to still be from that treatment.

Perry became world famous as Chandler Bing in the sitcom Friends, which ran from 1994 to 2004 and was broadcast in more than a hundred countries.
