Missing dog in England returns after 36 days and 160 kilometers walk

A dog missing in England has returned after 36 days. The animal traveled about 160 kilometers and swam to another island. She is doing well under the circumstances.

The dog had only been in the United Kingdom for one day when she ran off. The five-year-old dog was rescued as a stray in Qatar by a charity and brought to the UK, writes The Guardian.

The animal disappeared on April 25 and had been missing ever since. She wandered through the Hampshire and Dorset regions in southern England.

In total, the dog traveled approximately 160 kilometers in the area. This is evident from reports from people who claimed to have seen her in the New Forest National Park. Food stations and cameras were also used to track the animal.

From the coast, the dog swam about 1.5 kilometers to Brownsea Island. When she decided to return, she was spotted again. A passing ferry initially mistook the dog for a seal, but then managed to rescue her.

Crew members took the dog to a veterinarian. The animal had lost a lot of weight, but is otherwise doing well. A resident of Brownsea Island has indicated that they want to adopt the dog.
