The remaining coalition parties BBB, NSC, and VVD have reached an agreement regarding the vacant ministerial posts left by the resigned PVV officials. The sought-after portfolio of Asylum and Migration will be divided among all three parties.
Party leaders announced this on Wednesday after a new round of consultations in the House of Representatives building.
BBB will focus on the law regarding a two-status system and the revocation of the distribution law. Additionally, the party will oversee the priority arrangement for status holders, as well as policies concerning Ukrainian displaced persons.
The VVD will be assigned the other law with strict asylum measures and border control. The file on immigration detention will also be placed with the party. An NSC official will be involved in the European migration pact and the Repatriation and Departure Service, among other things.
There has been much discussion in recent days about the position of Minister of Asylum and Migration, which was previously held by Marjolein Faber on behalf of the PVV. All parties were eager to take responsibility for the department, leading to a stalemate.
The VVD had temporarily claimed the ministry with David van Weel, outgoing Minister of Justice and Security. However, the BBB was keen to put forward its outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Mona Keijzer. The NSC was also interested in the important ministerial post.
