Parachute jumper hangs for hours on Antennemast in Oss: 'Was wrong anyway'

A parachutist got stuck on an antenna mast in Oss on Wednesday morning. The jumper was hanging at a height of about 50 meters for hours. A special high-altitude rescue team from the fire department managed to free him around 10:30 AM.

A police spokesperson said that the base jumper was checked by ambulance personnel and then arrested. He is being questioned at the station. “It is forbidden to climb a mast that does not belong to you, so he was wrong anyway. We will ask how he got here and what the intention was.”

The report about a stuck parachutist came in around 7:00 AM. He was hanging too high for the fire department’s ladder truck. That is why a special team had to be called in.

It concerns a so-called base jumper. That is someone who does not jump from a plane or helicopter, but from a high point. It is not known where the jumper jumped from.

During the descent, things went wrong and the parachutist became entangled in an antenna mast at a height of about 50 meters on the Aengelbertlaan in Oss, according to a spokesperson for the Brabant-Noord Safety Region.
