A man who was detained in a police cell in Arnhem was resuscitated on Sunday and rushed to the hospital. According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), he was likely given the wrong medication.
The incident occurred in the cell complex of a police station in the center of Arnhem. The man was resuscitated on the spot, according to the OM. He was then rushed to the hospital by ambulance.
There is a strong suspicion that the man received the wrong medication and became unwell as a result. He probably received that medication while in his cell.
A spokesperson for the OM tells NU.nl that they cannot share further details because the National Criminal Investigation Department is investigating exactly what happened. The OM will provide more information when that investigation is complete. Nothing is also known about the man’s current health condition.
The man’s family was informed last weekend about the investigation by the National Criminal Investigation Department.
