Ajax striker Brian Brobbey has been extorted for an extended period since the end of 2022. That’s according to Het Parool on Friday. Several attacks have been carried out on Brobbey’s loved ones. A friend of his was shot.
The suspect, Jeymon A., allegedly asked Brobbey for 150,000 euros, but this was never paid. A. was never prosecuted for the suspicion because Brobbey did not file a report.
Het Parool writes that Brobbey had a chance encounter with A. at a party in the Amsterdam RAI in December 2022. A. tells Brobbey that he is wanted by criminals in Utrecht, but that A. has solved this for him. A. wants to be paid for this.
Brobbey has no idea what this is about and later tells a friend about what happened to him. The friend says he will take care of it for him. In the months that followed, several attacks took place on Brobbey’s loved ones, such as his mother-in-law, sister-in-law, but also on his own car.
When the friend has a meeting with A., he is shot. In November 2024, A. was sentenced to ten years in prison for attempted manslaughter, possession of a firearm and a quantity of drugs. The extortion of Brobbey was not charged to A.
Ajax declined to comment on the publication of Het Parool because, according to the club, it is a private matter. Brobbey’s lawyer, Leon van Kleef, also declined to comment.
