Second division far away for Jong Feyenoord na Zeperd against Jong Sparta

For Jong Feyenoord, the desired promotion to the Tweede Divisie is far away. Trainer Pascal Bosschaart’s team kicked off the decisive two-legged match against Jong Sparta at home, but suffered a large 0-3 defeat.

In the previous round against SC Cambuur (4-1 victory), Jong Feyenoord had been strengthened by Givairo Read, Anis Hadj Moussa, Antoni Milambo and Oussama Targhalline. In the home match against Sparta, players such as striker Zépiqueno Redmond and goalkeeper Plamen Andreev were in the starting line-up.

But the Bulgarian had to pick the ball out of the net twice within three minutes on Tuesday. Jorn Triep, who will be loaned to VVV-Venlo next season, made it 0-1 just after the kick-off. Ayoni Santos made it 0-2 almost immediately afterwards, after a shot from distance.

Jelani Seedorf even made it 0-3 after half an hour. Feyenoord could only counter with chances for Joey de Bie, Paulo Rudisill and Redmond.

Feyenoord continued to press after the break, but failed to score again at their own Varkenoord. In the final phase, the home team even had to continue with ten men, after a red card for captain Jan Plug.

On Saturday evening, both teams will repeat the match at Het Kasteel. Jong Feyenoord will therefore have to score at least three times to join the Dutch football pyramid. Jong Sparta finished sixteenth in the Tweede Divisie last season and is well on its way to maintaining its position.

Feyenoord has wanted to join the football pyramid for a long time

Feyenoord already had the opportunity to register a team in the Eerste Divisie ten years ago, but decided not to do so at the time for financial reasons. In recent years, it has been a desire within the club to join the football pyramid after all.

If the two-legged match against Jong Sparta is won after all, Jong Feyenoord will join the Tweede Divisie. If not, they will remain in the O21 competition.
