Man with knife injures two people on a terrace in Helmond

A 38-year-old man injured two people with a knife on the terrace of a café in Helmond on Saturday. One victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. The man with the knife has been arrested.

The stabbing was preceded by a conflict, a police spokesperson tells NU.nl. According to other café visitors, it was an argument and a fight. Local media, including the Brabants Dagblad, write that the suspect left after the argument and later returned with a knife.

Two people were injured in the stabbing. One of them was treated on the spot. He is said to have been injured in the ear. A second person is being treated in the hospital. Nothing is known about the condition of that person.

The suspect has been arrested. Omroep Brabant writes that initially a number of people went after the man. Eventually, the police were able to arrest him.
