Gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is free again. The armorer for the film Rest had been serving an eighteen-month prison sentence since April 2024, but is being released early for good behavior.
The weapon expert was found guilty by a jury last year for the fatal shooting on the set of Rest. Actor Alec Baldwin shot and killed camerawoman Halyna Hutchins in October 2021. The firearm he used was supposed to be unloaded.
Baldwin was also charged, but the charges against him were dropped in July. Hutchins’ relatives still want to interrogate him under oath in another case.
The film Rest was released in the United States in early May. The production had been delayed for years due to the fatal shooting. The film has so far received mixed reviews.
