Jeroen van der Boom has been awarded a Platinum Award for his song You are like that, which was released eighteen years ago. The hit has now been streamed more than twenty million times.
The singer received the award from his sons Daan and Luuk. You are like that is the Dutch version of Silencio by the Spanish artist David Bisbal.
Van der Boom’s song was in the Dutch Top 40 and the Flemish Ultratop 50 for almost six months in 2007. You are like that was at the top of both charts for several weeks.
Van der Boom thinks it is special that he is receiving the Platinum Award. “At the time, an awful lot of physical copies of You are like that were sold. It’s great that this record has been streamed so much for almost twenty years.”
The NVPI (the trade association for the entertainment industry) presents Gold, Platinum and Diamond Awards for singles and albums that reach certain streaming thresholds.
