3x3 basketball players to the intermediate round on World Cup after victory in the last group duel

The Dutch 3×3 basketball team qualified for the intermediate round at the World Cup in Mongolia on Wednesday. This was the maximum achievable after the defeat against Switzerland earlier in the day.

Due to the convincing victory over Spain (21-16) in the final group match, the Olympic champion qualifies as second in the group for the knockout stage. Switzerland became group winner.

The Netherlands quickly took a comfortable lead against Spain. Shortly before the end, Worthy de Jong scored the 21st point. That was also immediately the final chord. Against Switzerland there was a 16-15 defeat a few hours earlier.

In the intermediate round, the Netherlands will face the number three from group A, in which matches still have to be played. The intermediate round will be played on Friday.

The Dutch team has been changed in one position compared to the won Olympic Games of Paris. Arvin Slagter has stopped and Bryan Alberts has taken over his place in the selection. De Jong, Dimeo van der Horst and Jan Driessen have remained and are there in Ulaanbaatar.
