The 79-year-old woman who died in a traffic accident in Schijndel on the night of Sunday to Monday was found by her husband. The woman was walking her dog when she was hit by a car. The police are looking for the driver who fled the scene.
The couple from Rijnsburg, South Holland, were camping at a campsite on the Landingsweg. The woman went to walk her dog around 11:30 PM, but did not return. Her husband went looking for her and found the woman along the road with serious injuries. She was already deceased at that time.
Police investigation has revealed that the woman died as a result of a collision with a car. Glass shards and car parts, presumably from the car, were found at the scene of the accident.
The police are calling on the driver who fled the scene to report to the police. They are also asking people who saw something to contact them.
The woman’s dog remained unharmed. The animal was found that night by the victim’s husband, a police spokesperson tells NU.nl.
