Woman arrested for alleged blackmail Thai monks with sex videos

A woman was arrested in Thailand on Tuesday on suspicion of blackmailing monks with sex videos and photos. She allegedly had sex with at least nine monks, according to authorities. This is said to have earned her millions.

During a search of the woman’s home, who is in her thirties, police found approximately 80,000 photos and videos of sexual acts with monks, who are actually supposed to abstain from sex.

The woman from Nonthaburi province allegedly got paid to keep the images under wraps. According to Thai police, this has earned her approximately 385 million baht (€10.2 million) in the past three years. In addition to extortion, the woman is also suspected of money laundering, reports CNN.

Police say they tracked her down in June when a monk suddenly left a famous temple in the capital Bangkok and left the order.

Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai has instructed the authorities to investigate the financial ins and outs of Buddhist temples.
