Woman (22) gets 22 years in prison for 'Snapchat murder' on father

The court in Breda sentenced a 22-year-old woman to 22 years in prison on Thursday for the murder of her father. She committed it together with 37-year-old Jeroen L., her then-boyfriend.

The 58-year-old Gradus Haisch was lured to a dilapidated farm in Brabant’s Wouwse Plantage on March 24, 2023. He thought he had an appointment to buy scrap iron there. Once there, he was stabbed six times with a large knife.

The daughter and L. stated that they had lured Haisch to confront him with their secret relationship. According to the daughter, the murder was committed on the spur of the moment.

Chats were found on Snapchat in which she and L. discussed ways to kill Haisch. In addition, multiple texts and images about the loss of a father were found in the woman’s search history. She searched for these before Haisch died.

According to the court, the daughter also deceived her family. At the funeral, she stood mourning by his coffin, while no one yet suspected that she was behind the murder.

The daughter drove to the dilapidated farm with her father in the car on March 24. “He was lured to the dark place under false pretenses. You literally drove him to his violent death,” the presiding judge said.

Uncertain who the perpetrator is

According to the judge, the daughter and L. worked intensively together to prepare the murder. The court cannot determine with certainty who actually stabbed. The two point to each other as the perpetrator. The daughter said that L. stabbed her father, while L. claimed that Haisch was already dead when he arrived.

Shortly before the murder, L. ordered a large knife under a false name. Clothing with the victim’s blood was also found in an underground container near his house. L. had already received twenty years in prison in the case in January.

The exact motive remains unclear. What is clear is that the woman did not have a good relationship with her father.
