The first -round party of Daniil Medvedev on the US Open ended on Sunday on a chaos. After a photographer entered the field on MatchPoint, the Russian ignited in anger. He eventually lost in five sets by the Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi.
With a 5-4 stand in the third set, the chaos in the Louis Armstrong Stadium started. Bonzi was able to serve the competition, but his second service was interrupted by a photographer who was on the track out of nowhere.
The photographer was sent away, after which the Umpire Bonzi granted a first service because of the delay. That decision led to an outburst of anger from Medvedev. The former number one in the world went to get a story at Umpire Greg Allesworth.
