Webshop company Wehkamp is cutting approximately 10 percent of its jobs. The company has been struggling with deep red figures for years.
At Wehkamp, 103 out of 1,100 jobs will disappear, the webshop reported on Monday. The layoffs will occur at the head office in Zwolle and at the office of the company’s own clothing line in Hilversum.
“A total of 103 positions will be eliminated, the majority of which are at office locations. Approximately 84 positions will be eliminated through natural attrition and the non-renewal of some temporary contracts and open vacancies. The works council issued advice on July 1 that the intended changes can be implemented,” the company said.
Wehkamp has been struggling financially for some time. In the past three years, the webshop has been deep in the red. Last year, Wehkamp suffered a loss of almost 8.7 million euros. Turnover has also been falling for three years in a row.
To save costs, Wehkamp previously cut its workforce. Last year, 840 full-time employees worked at the company. A year earlier, there were 1,158.
