The United States bombed three nuclear complexes in Iran on Saturday night, joining the conflict with Iran after Israel began attacking the country over a week ago.

The United States intervened in the war between Israel and Iran on Saturday night by bombing three nuclear complexes in Iran. According to news agency Reuters, heavy B2 bombers were involved in the attacks.

In an address to the American people, President Trump said that the nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan were completely destroyed. “Fordow is gone,” Trump said. Iranian authorities deny this, saying the complex was not seriously damaged.

Trump stated that America would carry out new attacks if Iran did not agree to peace.

Israel had previously asked America for support in the attacks on nuclear complexes in Iran. The United States had already moved B2 bombers to Guam, an American island in the Pacific Ocean. Only these would be able to destroy the underground nuclear facility Fordow with heavy bunker bombs like the GBU-57 MOP.

According to Fox News, America used six so-called bunker busters that can penetrate thick layers of concrete. The bombs reportedly weighed 15 tons each.

In Natanz, about 250 kilometers south of the capital Tehran, uranium is being enriched to make a nuclear bomb. Fordow, near the holy city of Qom, is considered the heart of Iran’s nuclear program. Here, uranium would be enriched in 2,200 centrifuges, according to CNN.

Late Saturday night, Trump consulted with his security team, after which he decided that America, like Israel, would carry out attacks to dismantle nuclear complexes in Iran.

Earlier, Trump stated that he wanted to make a decision “within two weeks” about a possible American intervention. According to an Israeli spokesperson, the American government had informed Israel in advance of the bombings in Iran.

Trump speaks of a “very successful attack” on the Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan complexes on the Truth Social platform. “All our planes have now left Iranian airspace.” Trump praised the strength of the American army. “And now it’s time for peace,” he says on Truth Social.

America’s attack marks a further escalation of the already nine-day war between Israel and Iran. President Trump had regularly stated that America would no longer interfere in wars in Europe or the Middle East. But he no longer wanted to stand by when it came to Iran.

America supported Israel’s claim that Iran was “close to fabricating a nuclear bomb.” Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had therefore previously decided to carry out attacks on nuclear facilities in Iran. Trump said on Saturday that he wanted to “give diplomacy one last chance.”

On Saturday night, America decided to intervene itself. An Iranian spokesperson confirmed the attack on Fordow. “Part of the nuclear complex has been hit by hostile air strikes.” The Iranian Atomic Energy Agency said on Sunday morning that it would continue its nuclear activities despite the American attacks on the important installations.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, had recently warned America to stay out of the conflict between Israel and his country. He would also be a possible target of the attacks from Israel.

Khamenei already threatened retaliation in the event of an American attack. The United States has now started evacuation flights of American citizens from Israel and the West Bank. US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee announced this on X.
