George Russell won the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, his first victory in 2025. The Mercedes driver had to beat Max Verstappen, among others. The McLaren drivers had a collision, causing Lando Norris to retire.
Behind Russell and Verstappen, Kimi Antonelli finished third, scoring his first podium in his career. He is the third youngest podium finisher in the history of the sport.
Championship leader Oscar Piastri was not much affected by the crash with Norris and crossed the line in fourth. In a direct duel four laps before the end, the Briton drove into the back of his teammate’s car on the start-finish straight. Norris immediately took responsibility. Piastri was lucky that he did not get a flat tire, although the Australian did visit his team for safety. That didn’t cost him any places.
Charles Leclerc finished fifth, after complaining about his strategy. Lewis Hamilton finished sixth in a race in which the seven-time world champion again did not perform well.
