“We were looking for a grip all weekend, so I am happy that it feels more normal in qualifying,” said the 27-year-old Verstappen, who saw Oscar Piastri pole position grab. “This is very good for us. We clearly went in the right direction with the adjustment.”
Verstappen finished fifth in the second free training on Friday and also had to settle for fifth place on Saturday in the third training. “This morning we adjusted some things and it was Tricky with the wind, because in some turns you really depend on that,” Verstappen continued.
“We are not the strongest, but it was certainly not bad. What we now have on the car should make it a bit more stable. Only our racepace is often less good this year than in qualifying, so hopefully I can keep the people who start behind me behind me.”
