Van Gerwen eliminated in Quarterfinals Poland Darts Masters

Michael van Gerwen was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Poland Darts Masters on Saturday. The Dutchman lost 6-4 in legs to Rob Cross.

Van Gerwen had a poor start to the match and was immediately broken. He fought back to 3-3, but immediately lost his own leg again. ‘Mighty Mike’ was unable to close the gap.

The 36-year-old Van Gerwen started the Poland Darts Masters on Friday with a 6-4 victory over Croatian Pero Ljubic. The world number three won the first edition of the tournament in 2023.

In the last four, Cross will face Gerwyn Price. In the other semi-final, Luke Littler will face Stephen Bunting. The Poland Darts Masters includes eight players from the PDC Pro Tour and eight ‘local’ players.

The event in Gliwice, Poland was Van Gerwen’s second tournament since the end of May. After that, the Brabant player decided to temporarily stop playing darts due to a break-up with Daphne, whom he had been married to for over ten years.

Van Gerwen made his return last week at the US Darts Masters. In New York, the three-time world champion also stranded in the quarterfinals.
