The UEFA HAS Reluctantly Agreed to move the League Matches Villarreal-FC Barcelona and Como-AC Milan to the United States and Australia, Respectively.
Villarreal and FC Barcelona Will Meet in Miami. Como and AC Milan Will Face Each Other in Perth. The Exact Schedule is not Yet Known, But Both Matches Are Now Scheduled for December 21.
The Uefa Reiterated That It is Against Playing National League Matches Outside The Home Country. “As the fifa regulatory framework is not clear and detailed enough, the uefa has reluctantly decided to approach the two requests,” the association writes in a statement.
“The Uefa Will Activey Contribute to ensuring that Future Rules Preserve The Integrity of National Competitions and the Close Bond Between Clubs, Their Supporters and Local Communities.”
‘This Could Lead to Competition Distortion’
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin is also disappointed that the two matches Are Being Played Outside the Home Country. “League Matches Should Be Played at Home. Anything Else would discourage Loyal Fans and Could Lead to Competition Distortion.”
“Our consultation confirmed these concerns. I would like to thank the 55 national associations for their constructive and responsible tone around this sensitive subject. While it is regrettable that we have to allow these two matches to go ahead, this decision is exceptional and should not be regarded as a precedent. “
