Two suspects in the stabbing at the elementary school in Alblasserdam have been released. They are still suspects, but are allowed to await their trial in freedom. The third suspect is still in custody and will be brought before a judge on Monday afternoon.
The released suspects are a 35-year-old man from Alblasserdam and a 39-year-old man from Drieborg in Groningen. The two were released on the condition of a behavioral instruction.
They must adhere to certain conditions until they are brought before a judge again, according to a spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service (OM). The OM could not say what this behavioral instruction entails.
It is still unclear when the two men will have to report to the court again. The third suspect, a 44-year-old man from Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, will be brought before a judge at the end of the afternoon.
The latter was in the hall during the school musical on Wednesday evening, reports Rijnmond. The other two suspects approached him, after which an argument ensued.
During the argument, a 53-year-old elementary school teacher who tried to mediate was stabbed. The man ended up seriously injured in the hospital. A day later, he was out of danger. The teacher was discharged from the hospital on Monday morning.
