The police have arrested two suspects in the investigation into the woman who was killed in a hit-and-run in Schijndel. The 79-year-old woman was walking her dog on the night of Sunday to Monday. The driver drove on after the accident.
The suspects are a 54-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman from Schijndel, the police report. The duo is in custody for questioning. The vehicle that was presumably involved in the collision has also been found. The car was found at a home on the Rooiseweg in Schijndel.
The victim and her husband from Rijnsburg in South Holland were staying at a camper site nearby. The woman went to walk her dog around 11:30 PM, but did not return. Her husband went looking for her and found the woman along the road. She had already died from her injuries at that time.
Police investigation quickly revealed that the woman had died in a collision. Glass shards and car parts were found at the scene of the accident.
