Trump announces new conversations with China about Trade Agreement

The United States and China will resume trade agreement negotiations on Monday. This was announced by US President Donald Trump on his social media platform Truth Social on Friday.

The Americans and Chinese will talk in London on Monday, Trump says. The US will be represented by Finance Minister Scott Bessent, Trade Minister Howard Lutnick and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

The meeting “should go very well,” Trump writes. The announcement comes a day after Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke by telephone. Trump said then that they spoke “almost exclusively” about trade and that teams from both countries would meet soon for trade talks. On Wednesday, Trump said it was “very difficult” to reach a deal with Xi.

Last month, the countries agreed that China would reduce the levy on American goods to 10 percent. The US will reduce the levy on Chinese goods to 30 percent. The agreements are valid for ninety days.
