National coach Michael Traveler is enthusiastic about Thom van Bergen and Ryan Flamingo after reaching the quarterfinals with the Dutch Juniors at the European Championship. The Dutch promises joined the last eight on Wednesday by beating Ukraine 2-0.
“We have drawn up people who gave energy and they have given it. So in that respect it was successful,” traveler told Ziggo Sport .
Traveler made some changes in his setup for the last group match against Ukraine. For example, Van Bergen was preferred to Noah Ohio in the rush hour and Flamingo played as an occasional fender.
Those interventions pay off, because thanks to goals from Luciano Valente and Van Bergen, the Dutch Juniors won 2-0 against Ukraine. The Netherlands had to win to qualify for the quarterfinals.
