Trade unions CNV and FNV have provisionally suspended the strikes under the ground staff of KLM. The unions and the airline have decided to negotiate again. The strike at Schiphol next Wednesday is canceled for now.

The negotiations between the two largest trade unions and KLM take place under the leadership of a mediator, says CNV negotiator Souleiman Amallah to ANP news agency.

According to Amallah, both parties seem willing to come closer together. He therefore calls it “a good time to choose a different route”. The parties give themselves until 1 November for the new CAO agreements.

The unions have placed a list of minimum requirements at KLM. In it they ask for extra wages for soil staff and better agreements about the work-life balance.

According to Amallah, KLM said he wanted to think along, but the company would only want to discuss the requirements through a mediator. The CNV negotiator hopes that the parties will already find a mediator this week.
