A lightning strike in Austria cost the lives of three hikers on Sunday. They were overwhelmed by bad weather during their climb of the Damülser Mittagsspitze in the state of Vorarlberg.
It is a couple of 60 years and the 62-year-old brother of the woman, reports the Austrian police. It is not known what nationality the walkers have.
The trio climbed the mountain near the village of Flirsch. The weather was initially good, but turned around around 12.30 pm, Kronen Zeitung reports. The walkers immediately start the descent, but in vain.
Distressed relatives raised the alarm when the three did not return. A helicopter found the bodies of the victims at a hiking trail at a height of 2,268 meters.
An emergency doctor came to Plaaatse, but could only confirm the death of the walkers.
